Boy faces felony in baseball bat abortion - 01/05/05
Great article with alot of information about this terrible crime.
Where is the outrage here? The law prevents the woman from being charged because "abortion is legal". The father of the child (because it WAS a child you know) beat the child to death, through its mother's body, with the permission and full cooperation of the mother.
The quote frm a liberal civil rights attorney (that figures) is exactly the attitude I knew would surface:
Miranda Massie, a Detroit civil rights attorney, believes neither teen should be charged. "My heart went out to these poor kids," Massie said. "I believe it is a terrible mistake to be charged at all. This is a tremendous waste of public resources. What is Macomb County going to gain by criminal charges?"
She has offered to represent the boy. The girl goes free. They are both attending classes at their high school.
"Arthur Caplan, professor of medical ethics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, believes the girl should be charged with planning, plotting or conspiring to murder.
"But it's tough to do, because the law takes a different view of developing potential life than it does of actual life," Caplan said. "If the boy was charged with murder she probably would be facing charges, too. "
Damn right she should. As an adult. The really sad thing here is if her boyfriend was a doctor and she was 18 (or had parental permission or a court order), THIS WOULD ALL BE QUITE LEGAL. We are a nation of laws. Laws protect individuals from harm. Unfortunately they don't protect you from being beaten to death with a ballbat in utero.

These kids should go to jail for a long time at the very least. Personally I would sterilize them. We don't need kids like this passing on their criminalistic tendencies to any progeny. Not to mention their obvious lack of intelligence.
What did they think would happen to a dead baby in her womb that had been beaten to death? That maybe it would just drop out of her? Or maybe get re-absorbed? I completely don't understand their thinking.
Any lawyer that represents them should have their head examined.....the kids heads I meant, but now that I think about it maybe the lawyers head too.
